Surviving the cold in Germiston

2011-05-28 12:08

After weeks of nail-biting drama on Survivor SA: Maldives, it all came to a head this week when Hykie Berg was announced the winner.

The lavish finale bash was held in Sky Raiders at Rand Airport, Germiston, which was transformed into a spectacular scene with old charter airplanes, ruins and lots of fire to recreate the island feel of the Maldives.

The finale was attended by close friends and family of the Survivor contestants, but it wasn’t short on celebrities either.

Last year’s Survivor winner, Gigi, and runner-up, Ashley Hayden, were there to show their support.

Rally driver Gugu Zulu looked cosy with this year’s runner-up, Letshego Moshoeu, who completely transformed herself from the rundown contestant on the island into a beautiful diva.

Screen siren Bonnie Henna, who became famous for her facial expressions on the series, also dazzled in bronze tones.

Actress and contestant Carmel Fisher sent jaws dropping with her silver little number. If she is nursing the flu today, she only has herself to blame.

Everyone’s favourite host, Proverb, was also in the mix and provided some much-needed, lighthearted entertainment as the emcee and didn’t hold back in reminding the audience that Idols was coming to our screens soon.
