Suspected supermarket robber killed

2010-07-17 15:53

A suspected robber was shot dead during an armed robbery at a supermarket in Kagiso, west of Johannesburg.

Police responded to a call at 10am yesterday and found the man in his late 20s on the floor, face down in a pool of blood, said Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya.

“He was shot in the chest and was certified dead on the scene.”

According to the shop owner, three men came to rob the business and the security guard shot at them, said Sibiya.

“They retaliated. The guard sustained three gunshot wounds to his left shoulder, stomach and waist. He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.”

The other two fled.
