The historic Robben Island was declared a highsecurity prison by the apartheid regime in the 1960s. More than a decade after the end of apartheid, it is a tourist hot spot. This documentary tells the story of three former political prisoners who came back to live and to work on the island in the new, free South Africa. Their walk down memory lane makes for fascinating viewing.

3
Path to Freedom

Discovery World
Sunday, 1.40pm

This documentary commemorates the story of Madiba through the eyes of the men and women who have been inspired by his legacy. Watch as Mandela’s youngest daughter, Zindzi, recalls how she coped growing up in the absence of her father, and as a former prison guard recalls what it was like to know him. You will witness how Madiba’s legacy has transformed the lives of many people.
