Far from Finished

Comedy Central, Monday, 9pm

Many of us grew up with the Huxtables, one of TV’s most loved families.

Bill Cosby was the quintessential upper middle class African-American father and comedy genius. His jerseys were as legendary as his comedic timing, facial expressions and incredible wit.

Now 77 years old, the funnyman is in his fifth decade as a stand-up performer.

Tomorrow, he presents his first special in 30 years. The set is simple: a table and a chair, and an old man rambling on about friendship, love, marriage and old age. But this oldie is not about to send you to sleep. He has the gift of the gab and proves that he still has the touch after all these years.

Cosby rose to stardom in the 60s by recording comedy albums – earning platinum success.

He starred in the TV drama I Spy, becoming the first African-American to co-star in a drama series, breaking racial barriers in TV in the process and lifting three Emmy Awards.

The 80s presented him with a TV comedy phenomenon, The Cosby Show, which ran until 1992 with stars Phylicia Rashad, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Raven-Symoné.

Rumour has it that we may see more of Cosby as Jonathan Franklin, a patriarch of a multigenerational family in a new NBC show next year.
