Talent needs support

2009-11-14 13:12

THURSDAY night marked the end of the talent search show SA’s Got Talent.

And what a show it has been!

Young Durbanite Darren Rajbal won the contest, but there was so much talent on this show that any of the last six contestants – Rajbal, George Avakian, Kalon Badenhorst, brothers Willem and Louis van der Merwe, Louwtjie Rothman and Cleo Filander – could have taken it.

Even judges Shado Twala, Randall Abrahams and Ian von Memerty were in agreement: any of these contestants showed real South African talent, and choosing one winner was an arduous task.

And this is where corporate South Africa must come to the party.

These talented individuals need support to realise their dreams and to show the world the nature of the talent we have across all ages and all races, especially as we prepare to welcome visitors to our shores for the 2010 World Cup.

Little Filander, such a talented kid, with an amazing voice, must be assisted to fly higher, with a recording contract that can help her develop her talent.

And Rajbal, the incredibly talented deaf young hip-hop dancer who has the country at his feet, could compete at international level and make us proud.

All the finalists are true winners, showing South Africa really has some serious talent.
