Taxi driver arrested for rape

2014-12-23 13:09

A minibus driver was arrested today for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Soweto.

“The girl comes from Palm Springs. She came to Soweto for a party,” Gauteng police spokesperson Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.

The party was held in a parking lot on December 16 by a group of 26 minibus drivers who transport pupils to school.

After the party she was taken to a house in Soweto, where she was allegedly held until December 19.

“After she was released, she opened a case in Naledi. Since then we searched for the driver of the microbus [who allegedly took her].”

The man was arrested and would appear in the Protea Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
