Teen in court for ‘raping’ cousins

2012-11-19 10:13

An 18-year-old teenager will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court this week to face charges of allegedly raping his two-year-old and four-year-old cousins.

Spokesperson Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi said police apprehended the suspect after the incident in White City, Nyanga.

In another incident involving a teenager, a 14-year-old allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old girl in Heinz Park, Nyanga, following an argument.

Sitshitshi said the incident happened at about 9:30pm last night. The girl died after sustaining injuries to the left side of her chest.

She said the boy was released into the care of his mother on condition that he does not stay in Heinz Park.

He will also appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court.

Nyanga is South Africa’s most dangerous neighbourhood, recording 198 murders in 2010/11 and 233 between April last year and March this year.

In 2011/12, the sprawling township had 398 sex crimes reported to police, up from 368 in 2010/11.
