Telkom Knockout final goes to Soweto

2014-11-19 12:40

The iconic Orlando Stadium will host this year’s Telkom Knockout final between SuperSport United and defending champions Platinum Stars next Saturday, November 29.

The Soweto venue, which ironically staged United’s elimination of Orlando Pirates in the semifinals, was revealed at a press briefing at the PSL offices this morning.

United were handed the home advantage – meaning they have a choice of turning out in their home kit – following the toss of the coin.

Stars brushed aside Kaizer Chiefs in the quarterfinals and edged out Mamelodi Sundowns in the last four.

United captain Clayton Daniels said: “That they beat Chiefs and Sundowns means it won’t be an easy game.”

Said Stars skipper Vuyo Mere: “They are a star-studded side with a good coach [Gordon Igesund]. We beat the best and we both deserve to be in the final.”

Tickets for the R4.25-million final will go on sale tomorrow and will cost R80 for the main stand and R40 for the open stands.

The game kicks off at 3pm.
