The Fix: Kylie pulls out all the stops

2011-07-04 14:54

With just five days to go before Aussie-born songbird Kylie Minogue hits South African shores, the Grammy winning artist is making sure she is pulling out all the stops for her Aphrodite tour which takes place this weekend in Sun City.

She will be doing three shows there, and then she will perform two shows in Cape Town’s Grandwest Casino next weekend.

According to the show’s promoters this will be the biggest concert staged at the Superbowl with $750 000 (about R5.04 million) worth of props.

Minogue will be dressed by Dolce and Gabbana and have 200 costume changes with at least one million diamante crystals and 1?000 feathers on stage during the course of the show.

There is a cast of 23 on stage, six of whom include high flying aerialists.

The stage, designed by 500 people, weigh 35 tons and it will use half a million watts of power.

Five thousand connections have to be made per day for the show, with 5km of electric cable used to power it and two 747 aeroplanes that are used to ferry Minogue and her team and carry the equipment.

Here’s a taste of things to come from the concert
