Friday. The Croc’s running around the south coast. Shepstone’s one of the venues for Friday’s episode of South Africa’s longest-running soapie, The Bald and the Fire Pool.

The Croc’s drawn Willies Mchunu, KwaZulu-Natal’s grumpiest politician, and his amigo, Peggy Nkonyeni.

The honourables are leading the latest “Hands off Jacob Zuma” march.

Peggy and Willies aren’t pleased that the Commander in Chief is being blamed because somebody broke into his house and spent R248 million on shit while he was asleep.

They’re leading a march, with freshly printed “leave the lahnee alone’’ T-shirts and posters, courtesy, we are told, of a local teacher turned tenderpreneur.

An ANC supporter in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, makes it clear where her loyalties lie. Party members marched in the town on Friday (March 28 2014). Picture: Khaya Ngwenya/City Press

Willies and Peggy are marching from Shepstone to Margate to deliver a memorandum to their comrade, Siyabonga Cwele.

Our very own James Bond. It doesn’t make much sense. First of all, Siyabonga and the Commander in Chief are big bras. They’re tight.

Siyabonga’s members work for Number 1. Not against him. So why give him the memo? I thought it was Thuli Madonsela who was allegedly squeezing Number 1’s balls, not Siyabonga.

Secondly, nobody’s laid a hand on the Commander in Chief since Zeelah and Juju charged him. Nor are they likely to. Given that he is the Commander in Chief, it’s just not gonna happen.

My gig is equally sensible. For my sins, and they are many, I’ve got Concerned Lawyers And Educationists For Equality Before The Law (CLAEFEBTL). Quite a mouthful.

The CLAEFEBTL is Mbuyiseni Mathonsi’s show. Mathonsi’s the honcho of Sadtu in the Kingdom. Mathonsi’s suit is banging. Far nicer than the advocates or the lawyers’ suits. Mathonsi’s on a mission to have Madonsela’s report binned and her wings clipped.

Mathonsi’s not just a defender of the truth. Mathonsi’s an educator. He wants to educate. Even on school holidays. Not extra maths lessons for students at school or anything stupid like that. None of that for our man.

Mathonsi’s hitting the road to tell the public how bad Madonsela’s report is and how good Number 1 is. Nice.

It’s lovely seeing that kind of dedication from our teachers. It would be even nicer if they were to apply it in the classroom.
