Three prisoners escape

2011-09-26 13:41

A manhunt has been launched for three men who escaped from police holding cells in Sebokeng, near Vanderbijlpark, early this morning, Gauteng police said.

“They cut through the bars of the cell, but we don’t know how they could have smuggled a hacksaw in,” Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

The disappearance of Anton Americo Bila, John Luis Kumalo and Quive Valerio was discovered at 2am today.
“We consider them to be dangerous,” Dlamini said.

All three were arrested last Wednesday. Bila had been linked to 37 housebreakings, including a number of cases where computer equipment was stolen from schools.

Kumalo was found in possession of stolen property and had been linked to six crime scenes through fingerprint evidence.
Valerio was arrested for possession of stolen property.

Dlamini appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information on their whereabouts.
