Two Jub Jub car crash victims still critical

The two youths hospitalised after a speeding car smashed into them

in Soweto remained in a critical condition today, the Gauteng health department

said.


Spokesman Mandla Sidu dismissed reports that one of the two

children had died, saying they were both still alive at Chris Hani Baragwanath

Hospital.


Hospital spokeswoman Nokwanda Dambuza said both remained in a

critical condition.


Four high school students – aged between 17 and 19 – were killed

yesterday when two Mini Coopers racing down the road which runs between Protea

Glen and Protea North, ploughed into them as they walked home from school.


The two drivers, one of whom is a well known hip-hop artist, were

arrested following the accident.


They were due to face charges of culpable homicide and reckless or

negligent driving in the Protea Magistrate’s Court today.
