Uncle arrested for rape

2010-11-10 09:07

The taxi driver uncle of four girls has been arrested in Soweto for raping them in separate incidents, Gauteng police said today.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said a nine-year-old girl reported the rape by her 26-year-old uncle in Zola 3 section in Soweto yesterday.

“She was bathing when the uncle came and went into the bathroom and requested to assist her. She refused and then he raped her,” said Makhubele.

“The parents were at work when it happened.”

The girl reported the matter to the police, after which her three cousins, all aged 10, said they had also been raped by the uncle some time ago.

“He is a taxi driver and he was traced while in the taxi line and was arrested yesterday evening. He will appear in court soon,” said Makhubele.
