Use your paraphernalia

2010-07-10 09:39

The soccer World Cup officially ends in a few hours. So what

happens to all the paraphernalia you bought while gripped by football fever?

Read on...

» It may be one of those cheesy American things to do, but think

about leaving your flags exactly where they are as a form of decoration for your

home. It can be quite cool.

» Get a shoe box or plastic container and create a time capsule for

your little one who is too young to know about the soccer World Cup.

Inside,

you can place a flag, a Zakumi doll, a blanket and a match ticket, making a

memory box like no other.

» If you were not fortunate enough to attend any World Cup matches,

collect ticket stubs or posters.

» Keep your car mirror covers on because they protect your mirrors

from scratches and sun exposure.

» Collect lots of vuvuzelas and place them in a large vase to create

a funky bouquet.

» Frame your 2010 soccer jerseys and flags, and hang them in

entertainment areas around your home or in the study or home office.

» Be a proudly South African fan and get new flags and mirror

covers for the upcoming Tri-Nations or Premier Soccer League. To keep them

from getting tattered by the wind, spread some clear nail polish on the edges.

» Donate your vuvuzelas, blankets and ornaments to

orphanages.

» Go through magazines and newspapers, and create a scrapbook for

your family. Add photographs of the matches you attended, fanparks or

gatherings with friends during the World Cup.

» Pretend you are a tourist in your own country by wearing

your World Cup gear and taking a ride on the Gautrain or BRT buses.
