Music lovers will be treated to the best of SA music when the 15th instalment of the South African Music Heroes takes place at Moretele Park in Mamelodi on Saturday.

The tribute concert, which was originally launched in Soweto, honours South African music icons in their own country by their own people.

Its first headline act featured the likes of Hugh Masekela, Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbulu, Abdullah Ibrahim and Jonas Gwangwa, who all performed to great acclaim, paving the way for its annual popularity and making it a South African must-go-to.

To toast the 15 years of its existence, music icons such as Jonathan Butler and Ezra Ngcukana will take to the stage.

Keeping its jazz legend roots, concert-goers will be also be treated to the sounds of Vusi Mahlasela, Tshepo Tshola, Jonas Gwangwa and Letta Mbulu.

New generation acts like Zonke, MiCasa and Zahara will also be on the entertainment bill.

South African-born and now international icon, Jonathan Butler will be a special guest at the event that he calls the “local is lekker” festival.

» Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers at R250 per person and the concert will take place on the 1 September 2012 all day
