Watch – David Letterman goes zef

2012-02-07 13:05

Cape Town-based zef-rap band Die Antwoord has made their debut performance on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Die Antwoord performed their latest video single I Fink You Freeky off their new album Ten$ion last night.

The Late Show with David Letterman is recorded daily in New York at the Ed Sullivan studio on Broadway, in front of a live audience.

Die Antwoord was the musical guest for the episode that also had former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar in the line-up.

Before they recorded the show, Ninja told Die Burger that it’s difficult to say why Americans like them so much.

One of the things that made American audiences so different from local (South African) audiences, he said, was that they did not understand Afrikaans swear words.

Die Antwoord’s performance will be broadcast in South Africa on Sony Entertainment Television (DStv channel 113) next Tuesday at 23.15pm.

According to Die Burger, Die Antwoord fever was running high in the US with Ninja and fellow band member, Yo-Landi Vi$$er, being the faces of fashion designer Alexander Wang’s new range.

Huge billboards of the two had been erected in New York.
