What’s in Pam’s bag?

2011-07-29 13:06

Petite, sweet and feisty are the words that best describe actress Pam Andrews, who stars in the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.

The 27-year-old actress first made waves in the entertainment industry when she took part in Popstars, the singing talent search show, back in 2002, and became a member of 101, the winning band.

Back then, her surname was Sikhupela but she opted to use Andrews as a stage name (Andrews is her mother’s maiden name).

She is now married to French beau Cedric Tahivillon and is working on a second solo album, which she hopes to release later this year after her debut, Here We Go, “didn’t do too well”.

7 spent a morning with Andrews at Cappello in Norwood to find out what she carries in her red leather bag. She bought it in Rosebank, but says that it’s not a brand name because she is not big on brands.

First she whips out her BlackBerry, which she says is her saviour. “It’s such an amazing thing. I have all my meetings on here, a day planner and everything I need to know for the day. Thank you Jesus for BlackBerry!

I wouldn’t know what to do without it.”

Then comes a variety of food – Skippy peanut butter, a bag of peanuts, green tea sachets and a Chicken Licken hot sauce sachet.

“I spend my time working in the studio and sometimes I don’t have time to eat so I snack on the peanuts and I have a slice of bread with my peanut butter. I love peanut butter. I am also trying to watch my weight so I drink green tea, which is a great appetite suppressant. I love Chicken Licken hot sauce and I often whip it out at a restaurant to spice up my food.”

A variety of supplements follows – Omega3 capsules, multivitamin tablets, Vita Force and Vicks.

“I hate being sick so I try to keep my body balanced with all the vitamins and I’m using Vicks now because I have a cold.”

Make-up products from MAC and Revlon are also in there – foundation, blush, lipsticks, brushes and eye shadow.

“You never know who you are going to meet after work or during the day so I keep make-up in my bag.”

Four nail polish bottles – red, lime, black and pink – land on the table, along with a nail filer. “I like my nails in tip-top shape. If I get that one chipped nail that will irritate me the whole day, I just file it away and polish it.”

Miscellaneous items, such as a pack of birthday candles and Pritt glue, were for a birthday party for her friend’s daughter.
