A woman has been arrested in Montague Gardens in the Western Cape for dealing in Tik with a street value of over R7 million.

“Information was received about a suspicious parcel ... at Time Freight in Montague Gardens,” a Cape Town police spokesperson, Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana, said yesterday.

When police went to the site on Monday, they found a parcel containing 42kg of methamphetamine – commonly known in South Africa as Tik – with a street value of R7 561 000.

“When the suspect, a 32-year-old woman, went to collect the shipment, she was arrested.”

The woman will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court today on charges relating to dealing in drugs.
