A young woman survived being stabbed eight times by intruders who confronted her in her family home across the road from the house of Gauteng’s premier.

The attack yesterday in Krugersdorp has been confirmed by Gauteng police.

The woman (22) was in her parents’ Noordheuwel house when two men wearing balaclavas and armed with knives broke in, said spokesperson Warrant Officer Dennis Jones.

The men tied up the woman and demanded firearms. They then stabbed their victim eight times and fled.

The attack took place across the road from Gauteng premier Nomvula Mokonyane’s home.

Jones said police were investigating a case of attempted murder and housebreaking.
