Woman held for attempt to kill husband

2013-04-27 09:22

A 62-year-old woman and her two children were arrested in Kwaggafontein, near Witbank, for conspiracy to murder her husband.

Mpumalanga police colonel Leonard Hlathi said yesterday the woman, her son (25) and daughter (31) were arrested on Thursday and two alleged assassins were arrested on Wednesday.

“The police briefly uncovered through a confession that the woman and her children sought the services of the two assassins to kill her husband,” Hlathi said in a statement.

“In that confession, one of the villains told the police that their firearm jammed when they attempted to shoot at the victim. They then used an axe but only managed to slightly hack the forehead of the victim which left him with an open wound.”

The 59-year-old man fought back and the two men fled. He was also shot at two weeks ago while driving to work.

Hlathi said the woman and her children as well as the alleged assassins would appear in the Mkobola Magistrate’s Court in Kwaggafontein on Monday on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder respectively.
