Workers’ Day rallies to be held across the country

Numerous rallies are expected to be held across South Africa today, Workers’ Day.

President Jacob Zuma is expected to address a rally at Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberley this morning, while the Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) will be holding six rallies in six provinces.

In Bethlehem, in the Free State, Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi, ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe and Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi will be speaking at a rally at Goble Park Stadium.

In Sharpeville, south of Johannesburg, Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa and National Union of Metalworkers of SA general secretary Irvin Jim will address a rally at George Thabe Stadium.

In Cape Town, Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba is expected to address a rally at the Good Hope Centre.

In Durban, Justice Minister Jeff Radebe and SA Communist Party deputy general secretary Jeremy Cronin are expected to speak at a rally at Curries Fountain.

In Rustenburg, ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to speak at a rally at Olympia Park.

Cosatu will also hold a rally in Lephalale, Limpopo.

The Democratic Alliance will also be holding a rally in Kimberley, at RC Elliott Hall, where Cape Town mayor Patricia De Lille and DA national spokesperson Mmusi Maimane are expected to speak.

ANC national executive committee member Lindiwe Sisulu is also expected to address a Workers’ Day rally at Buffalo City Stadium, in Amathole, East London.
