YouTube videos will celebrate Madiba

2014-05-22 16:14

The Nelson Mandela Foundation and Google have asked YouTube creators to help celebrate the icon’s legacy in video, the foundation has said.

YouTube Film Hack was a competition for video content creators in the country to produce “inspiring content” for YouTube using Nelson Mandela’s legacy as the creative springboard, said the foundation.

“The YouTube Film Hack competition participants received a standard brief and a limited amount of time to create a YouTube campaign that will inspire South Africans across the country to follow in the footsteps of the much-loved Madiba.

“The competition submissions had to include a short YouTube film, as well as an advertisement to drive traffic to the video.”

The three top submissions are:

» Continuing Madiba’s legacy is in our hands now;

» Living Mandela’s legacy in South Africa today; and

» The “Long Walk to Freedom” depicted in Lego form.

The foundation will select a winner on Tuesday.
