THIRTY-TWO school children escaped with minor injuries when the bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident on the R102 at New Guelderland, Stanger, yesterday morning.

KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the accident involved two buses and a light motor vehicle. The children are believed to have been on their way to school.

“The cause of the accident is not known but it has resulted in 32 school children sustaining injuries. Fortunately there were no critically injured children and they sustained only minor injuries,” said McKenzie. He said all the affected were treated on the scene and taken to local hospitals.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said no case was opened and that no serious injuries or damage to the vehicles were reported to the police.
