AS many as 37 people were injured in two bus accidents over the weekend.

Twelve people were injured yesterday afternoon after a taxi and a car collided in Palmiet Road, Clare Estate. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the police, said Netcare media liason Chris Botha.

A four-month-old girl sustained critical injuries, five people were in a serious condition while six others miraculously escaped with minor injuries, said Botha.

• In another accident involving a bus in the Awatikwe area of Inanda on Saturday afternoon, 25 people were injured, said KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert McKenzie.

The bus apparently left the road and went down an embankment.

KZN Emergency Medical Services dispatched several ambulances, response vehicles and a patient transport bus (to transport patients with minor injuries), to the incident.

Other emergency services and several private ambulances also attended the scene, a statement said.

Fourteen people were seriously injured and the remainder had minor injuries. The injured were transported to local health institutions, including Inanda C clinic. The police are investigating.
