A phone to go the Comrades distance

2013-06-01 00:00

WITH Comrades fever sweeping KwaZulu-Natal, there’s one device to consider that is able to withstand any marathon: the Sony Xperia Z.

The device has been dubbed as one of the most durable smartphones on the market, able to withstand dust and water up to a metre deep for half-an-hour.

This means that not only will you be able to capture photos underwater, but video too.

Its camera can also capture a panoramic sweep and 3D photos.

Fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass, the screen is scratch-resistant and shatterproof, avoiding those nasty bruises and mishaps that might occur during your training schedule.

The device features a 13,1 megapixel camera, accelerometer, compass and GPS navigation through Google Maps.

It is encased in a solid frame with a sleek design and runs Android JellyBean through its quad-core 1,5 GHz processor.

The Xperia Z gets an eight out of 10.

This week, Sony launched a companion to the device, the Xperia tablet Z, which can withstand similar conditions.

The tablet features HD video chat, perfect for video calling family and friends and four surround-sound speakers for a mobile cinema experience even in the bathtub.

The quad-core Snapdragon processor enables the device to extract the best quality of any files displayed on it and works in synergy with other Sony products for displaying photos and videos wirelessly.
