A reader offers to help May’s brother

2013-10-09 00:00

A PROVINCIAL businessman has come forward to help truck driver Sanele May’s brother, Trevor Dlamini, fulfil his dream of becoming a nurse or even a doctor.

Kobus Dippenaar from Newcastle, responding to The Witness story published on Monday detailing how Dlamini’s plans to study had been derailed, phoned this newspaper inquiring about Dlamini.

“After reading the plight of this young man, I could not see myself sitting back doing nothing to help. The accident claimed 23 lives, messing up lives probably more than double that number, and the life of the driver. This is sad for all concerned. As a human being, the least I can do is to reach out to this young man whose dream is to get education,” Dippenaar told The Witness yesterday.

With interests in the fuel and farming industries, Dippenaar said he was even willing to offer Dlamini a job for the rest of this year while he waits to enrol in an educational institution next year.

“If he accepts my offer, I’ll provide him with a job and accommodation in Newcastle. I would prefer him to study full-time,” he said.
