ACDP sets out vision for ‘healthy, prosperous nation’

2011-04-18 00:00

THE African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) says in its manifesto: “The African Christian Democratic Party is a political party based on biblical principles. We bring a vision for a strong, healthy and prosperous nation.” Councillors promise to:

Focus on service delivery backlogs

It will implement a plan of proactive maintenance to prevent damage to infrastructure and upgrade existing infrastructure. This includes a plan to place stormwater drains strategically to prevent recurring potholes.

Encourage sustainable development and small businesses.

The ACDP encourages sustainable energy initiatives and will offer incentives for citizens to save energy. It will increase recycling initiatives and education, and try to prevent pollution by businesses. It will focus on small businesses and local entrepreneurs by implementing programmes emphasising entrepreneurship, skills and job creation.

Focus on education

The party will try to create a partnership between parents, schools and the wider community, and encourage communities with the means to provide additional resources in schools where there are needs. Councillors will help schools in their struggle against gangsterism and substance abuse.

Prioritise healthcare and human settlement

The ACDP believes that every person has dignity and value, and is committed to improving healthcare, as well as extending property ownership to as many South Africans as possible. The party will focus on the effective management of rural areas, with incentives for industries to relocate to rural areas.

Fight crime

The ACDP says the main role of government is that citizens should be protected. This can be done by increasing police visibility and reviewing regulations regarding gambling, sex shops, underage drinking and liquor licensing.
