ANCYL: League astounded at Supreme Court ruling

2010-07-12 00:00

THE ANC Youth League in KZN said it is “flabbergasted” by the “unfortunate” Supreme Court judgment that overturned a decision taken by the league’s national leadership to disband the Eastern Cape’s provincial executive committee.

The KZN ANCYL has issued a statement saying it supports its national executive council’s (NEC) decision to appeal the judgment. Provincial Secretary Bheki Mtolo questioned why internal party matters were being taken to the courts to be settled. “We call on the NEC to take decisive action against people who took the organisation to court seeking external solutions to internal organisational challenges …” he said.

He added that the NEC had the constitutional right to disband any lower structures which were failing to carry out their responsibilities.
