Abused wife cries for kids

2014-05-30 00:00

SHE sobbed inconsolably.

“My life is hell without my children. I miss them terribly,” the 35-year-old mother of five children apparently held captive by their father for years in Springs told sister paper Beeld yesterday.

The alleged “monster’s” wife buried her face in her hands and swayed back and forth. She was not prepared to speak about the “house of horrors” or about the years of physical and emotional abuse she allegedly endured.

Neither did she want to talk about the relationship her husband had with their children.

She burst into tears every time she heard her husband’s name.

Her older sister is standing by to protect and support her.

She may also not be named, in order to protect the identities of the five children, aged from 16 to two.

The sister spoke for the wife. “When she saw her husband’s court appearance on TV on Wednesday night, it hit her. It’s very bad for us all. It’s the first time she has been away from the children,” the sister said.

“It’s unbearable to see her in this condition. We just want to get the court case over so we can live a normal life,” she said.

She said her sister wakes in the night screaming in anxiety.

“Lots of people are judging my little sister, but they have no idea how it feels.

“She is scared to be alone. When I take a shower or go to the bathroom, she comes with me.”

Now that the father is behind bars, the mother will have to work to support her five children. But she is dyxlexic and has never held a job. Her brother-in-law expressed his concern about that. “Where will she get work?” he asked.
