Accidents: One dead, three injured over the weekend

2012-12-03 00:00

THREE people were injured yesterday morning when their bakkie rolled numerous times and landed on its side off Edendale Road near Taylor’s Halt.

ER24’s Derrick Banks said paramedics arrived on the scene and found three people near the armco barrier with their bakkie a few metres away.

“The canopy was torn off and found to the side of the vehicle. Paramedics assessed the patients and treated them for suspected neck and back injuries and multiple cuts and abrasions,” said Banks.

They were stabilised on the scene before being taken to Edendale Hospital.

The driver was believed to have lost control of his bakkie after experiencing “some sort” of mechanical problem.

In another accident, a woman died when she lost control of her car and crashed into the back of a truck on the N2 southbound near Umgababa yesterday afternoon.

Banks said paramedics and the local fire department arrived at the scene and found the car partly on the right hand lane of the N2, with the truck a few metres away.

The jaws of life had to be used to remove her body from the wreck.
