Accidents: five seriously injured

AT LEAST 24 people were injured in accidents on KwaZulu-Natal roads at the weekend.

Ten people were injured, two critically, on the Watson Highway near Tongaat when two cars were involved in a head-on collision.

ER24’s Derrick Banks said the vehicles caught fire after the crash.

In Pietermaritzburg, at the intersection of Naidoo and Decker streets in Northdale yesterday afternoon, two drivers and a passenger were seriously injured in a head-on collision.

Banks said that when paramedics got to the scene, the two cars were in the middle of the road with the occupants trapped inside.

The driver and passenger of one vehicle were treated for possible neck and back injuries.The driver of the other vehicle was treated for various injuries.
