Accused kid porn mom may not be mentally fit for trial

AN “illuminati artist” and alleged child pornographer from Margate may not plead in court because of serious doubts concerning her mental stability.

The 41-year-old mother allegedly made pornographic videos involving her four-year-old daughter and distributed them on WeChat until her oldest daughter, aged 19, started suspecting not all was well with her sister.

The woman fled from Margate to Gauteng in November to “look for other work”, but was arrested in Kempton Park on charges of rape, child abuse, and making and distributing child pornography.

She has since been held in police custody and refused bail.

The case was heard again in the Kempton Park Regional Court yesterday.

In her statement, she denied the charges against her and said “extraordinary circumstances” exist. She said the State’s case against her is weak.

“She is an artist who loves the symbols of the illuminati,” said an acquaintance who attended the court case. “Like that large, prominent eye or bleeding hearts.”

Christian crosses are another symbol that often appear in her work.

One witness, identified only as Pierre, told how she often communicated with him via BBM and Facebook.

Their chats led to explicit conversations and her fantasies involving girls under 13.

She allegedly sent explicit messages about what she wants to do to small girls and sent him a video showing her improperly fondling her own little daughter.

Kempton Park magistrate Eric Mhlari said the court has not yet made any charges because it doubts the woman’s mental stability. He explained the law does not allow a case to proceed if a person is not mentally fit to stand or understand trial.

“She may belong in an institution rather than a prison,” he said.

The accused next appears in the Kempton Park court on August 25.
