African leaders watch inspiring film about the continent

2011-01-31 00:00

A FILM that focuses on Africa and the changing perceptions of the continent and its history and future was screened by Durban-based Video Vision Entertainment at the World Economic Forum’s Africa session on January 27.

Among those who watched We Are Africa, which was inspired by Kwame Nkrumah, Stephen Biko and Nelson Mandela, were South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma, Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, President John Mills of Ghana, Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and former United Nations secretary general Kofi Annan.

The forum attracted a large number of delegates from emerging economies, including South Africa, India and China.

Said Anant Singh of Video Vision, “Davos is the ideal place to interact with a cross-section of the international business community, industrialists, political and creative participants.

“The response to our film was excellent, especially the fact that it also incorporated the music of Youssou N’Dour. I am pleased with the confidence that international business has in South Africa.”
