Aids centre thanks PSA for donation

2008-07-07 00:00

The Siyaphilisa Community Care Centre, which looks after Aids patients in Imbali, will be able to cope with the chilly weather this winter thanks to the Public Servants’ Association (PSA), which gave them bedding and clothing.

Siyaphilisa is run by the deputy mayor of Umgungundlovu District Municipality.

PSA donated 60 blankets accompanied by pillows and mattresses to be used by the 28 patients that are currently cared for at the centre.

PSA provincial manager Andre van Schalkwyk said the donation was part of the association’s social responsibility programme. He said they will be in contact with the deputy mayor to see what else they can assist the centre with.

Deputy mayor Tu Zondi commended the PSA for their contribution and urged other businesses to come forward and help.

“I would like to thank the PSA for assisting us with bedding, especially now that it is winter. I urge other businesses that can help to assist us in finding a solution of creating more space so that we can house at least 50 patients,” said Zondi.
