Airport logo: R5?000 up for grabs

2011-02-25 00:00

THE Msunduzi Municipality has called on residents in the city to create a new logo for Pietermaritzburg Airport.

Spokesperson for the municipality Brian Zuma said the council officially launched the airport in December 2006. Its name was changed from Oribi Airport to Pietermaritzburg Airport.

The airport is being re-vamped to the tune of R40 million, most of which is being spent on rehabilitating the runway, said Zuma.

He said the municipality has been on a drive to come up with a logo for the airport.

People with creative abilities are invited to send their proposed logos by March 15.

“The winning logo will win R5 000.” Send your logo to marketing@msunduzi.gov.za, or you can call Slidokuhle Mavimbela at 033 392 2440 for more details,” said Zuma. — Witness Reporter.

THE municipality has invited residents from the Jika Joe informal settlement to a meeting to be held on Monday at the city hall.

The meeting starts at 2 pm and aims to discuss the Human Settlements Department’s R47 million approval for the provision of temporary housing for Jika Joe residents as well as provision of emergency services.
