All eyes on court today

2013-02-19 00:00

“ALL our focus is on Tuesday.”

This was the word yesterday from Oscar Pistorius’s PR man Stuart Higgins, former editor of the British tabloid the Sun.

It is expected that Pistorius’s defence team will lay out his version of the events that saw his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp shot dead last Thursday morning.

Higgins’s high-profile clients include British Airways, football club Chelsea, tennis player Andy Murray and British swimmer Mark Foster.

He said that since he landed in South Africa at the weekend, much of his time has been taken up with “legal briefings”.

He said he had worked with Pistorius during the Olympics and Paralympics last year, and had been contracted again to help with media management and advice.

The Pistorius camp is expected to hold a media conference today to set out their plans.

Higgins confirmed that all of Pistorius’s contracts for races between March and May in Australia, Brazil, the U.S. and the UK have been cancelled.

In Brazil, he was set to race against Alan Oliveira, who beat him in the 200-metre sprint at last year’s Paralympics.
