Ambleton: warning against land invaders

2011-04-19 00:00

THE Msunduzi Municipality has issued a stern warning against land invaders, saying they will be removed from municipal land.

This is a result of community members living around Ambleton complaining about a large number of “wealthy people” moving into the area and erecting permanent structures.

The municipality has earmarked Ambleton for resettlement by about 1 000 squatters who are illegally occupying industrial land in the Shortts Retreat area.

The relocation is a result of the court order requiring the municipality to move the people there from the beginning of July.

“Most of these people are not poor people, they arrive in fancy cars and they are not building shacks here,” said a resident.

Spokesperson Brian Zuma said the municipality is aware of people invading that land and that it will move swiftly to remove them.
