Amy Paterson: keeping up tradition

TOP performer at Treverton College, Amy Paterson, who achieved an aggregate of 91%, bagged eight As out of her nine subjects.

She obtained over 90% for fiveof her eight subjects: mathematics paper 3 (95%), mathematics (94%), physical science (94%), history (92%) and life orientation (92%).

Amy’s other distinctions were for life science (89%), English (87%) and Afrikaans (83%).

She narrowly missed out on a distinction for advanced programme mathematics, achieving 78%.

Amy is in New Zealand, but her mother, Michelle, said her daughter had pretty much always been smart and the family had expected good results from her.

She said her daughter was going to study medicine at the University of Cape Town or Stellenbosch University.

Amy was Treverton College’s 2012 Dux.

At the annual prize-giving she won a number of subject prizes as well as the prize for All-Round Excellence.

She was a school prefect, captain of the first tennis team and the captain of the cross-country team. She served on the Student Christian Association and was head of the Outreach Portfolio.

Amy is a granddaughter of Weston Agricultural College’s legendary headmaster, the late Don Paterson.
