An Englishman went up a mountain pushing a sprout

TWITTER was set abuzz after a West Midlands man began his attempt to push a Brussels sprout up the highest peak in Wales.

Stuart Kettell (49), from Balsall Common, known as The Mad Fool on Twitter, began his venture yesterday and hopes to reach the 1 085 m summit of Mount Snowdon within four days.

Kettell is believed to have been training for the event by pushing a sprout around his garden and also had a trial run on the mountain.

This is set to be the latest in a series of fundraising challenges by Kettell, who also spent a week in a box and walked an every street in Conventry, on stilts.

His cameraman Richard Crump, who is filming the challenge, said: “The first day had been gruelling for Stuart.

“He has no skin on his knees, his neck is hurting and his neck is really tired. But he is still going.”

Kettell is performing the bizarre feat in an effort to raise at least £5 000 (R89 900) for Macmillan Cancer Support. The beneficiary will also replace the sprouts as they fall apart along the journey.

So far Kettell has raised more than £40 000 for the charity.

He received mixed reactions on Twitter over his outrageous stunts with many applauding his acts for fundraising.
