Another exciting win for Maritzburg College against Glenwood

2011-08-30 00:00

THERE was only one schools’ football report received and it was another good win for locals Maritzburg College against Glenwood from Durban. They had played one another a few weeks ago in Durban and Glenwood won that fixture 3-1.

On a damp afternoon, a sizeable crowd of supporters were not disappointed with the skills on view. College goal keeper, Lindokuhle Zulu kicked a high ball which was followed up by Bandile Shandu. The Glenwood keeper, Junaid Stevens, was caught napping when the ball went over his head, and Shandu finished off with a header. Soon after, the referee noticed some rough play in the College box which resulted in a penalty. Glenwood capitalised, with Kemsley Rajoo scoring from the spot. This levelled the scores at one goal each.

An exciting second half ensued, with both keepers called on to make some good saves. Late in the second half, College’s Lebohang Letele sealed Glenwood’s fate when he scored a blinder past the Glenwood keeper to win the game 2-1 for his side.
