Another fruitful season of schoolgirls’ hockey

THE curtain came down on another successful Parklane SuperSpar Powerade Girls’ Hockey A League season with the prize giving that was held at The Wykeham Collegiate on

Friday night.

Parklane SuperSpar also committed to continuing with the sponsorship of girls’ hockey in 2009.

KZN Midlands arguably has the most valuable sponsorship compared to any other top schoolgirls’ league in the country.

The prize giving was once again sponsored by Parklane SuperSpar and supported by ABI.

SA U18 player and captain of Girls’ High School (GHS) Celia Evans won most of the prizes while her team were winners of the league followed by TWC and St Anne’s in what was a competitive division.

The trophy winner for best goalkeeper was Phumelela Mbande (Carter), best defender was Priantha Reddy (GHS) and the best striker Angela Egeland (GHS).

The best midfielder and player of the year in field hockey and indoor was outstanding GHS and KZN Midlands U18 captain Celia Evans.

KZN Midlands Girls’ Hockey chairperson Charmaine Koekemoer also thanked The Witness for the “wonderful coverage” during the course of the season.
