Ashleigh Craig: top marks, five books too

2012-12-29 00:00

NOT only has Kokstad pupil Ashleigh Craig aced her exams, but the 18-year-old also found time to publish five books.

From eight subjects, Ashleigh, a pupil at St Patrick’s College, achieved seven As in her matric final exams, in English, Afrikaans, geography, history, life orientation, life sciences and maths.

When Weekend Witness contacted her yesterday, she was unaware of how well she had done in her IEB exams.

“I think I did alright, but I’m not sure about maths. It was difficult and it’s not my favourite,” she laughed, adding that her favourite subject was biology.

Ashleigh will study psychology at Rhodes University next year.

She said the advantage of attending a small school like St Patrick’s was the ease of making friends and pupils got a chance to participate in everything.

“I’m going to miss it,” she said.

Ashleigh has already published five books, which are sold online and in Kokstad.

Some of her books have been donated to underprivileged schools. Her first book Pony Camp, about horses, was published when she was 13.

Ashleigh said she took a break from writing this year to focus on her studies, but hoped to get back to her hobby during the holidays.
