THE case is in which Pietermaritzburg attorney Oliver Bernhard faces charges of assaulting police, and in turn has accused the same policemen and a public prosecutor of colluding to extort money from him, was adjourned yesterday pending a decision by the director of public prosecutions.

Bernhard was initially arrested and charged with assaulting two police officers on March 21. He subsequently opened counter charges of assault against various other policemen, and also charged the public prosecutor and police involved in the matter with trying to extort money from him in exchange for mediating the case.

The case was yesterday postponed to July 1.
