Bakkie smash: Three trapped

2011-04-05 00:00

ONE person was critically injured and two more escaped with serious injuries after two bakkies collided at the intersection of Chief Albert Luthuli and Prince Alfred roads yesterday afternoon.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said the collision closed the intersection to traffic while the rescue team and Fire Department worked on the scene.

The driver of one of the vehicles was found walking around on scene unhurt while the three passengers in the other vehicle were trapped inside. Firemen extricated them from the vehicle.

ER24 paramedics stabilised them with one passenger requiring advanced life support intervention.

All three patients were taken to Edendale Hospital, said Banks in a statement.

It is unclear what caused the accident.
