Banking: Nedbank to open on sunday

2011-07-20 00:00

NEDBANK yesterday announced a roll-out of its Sunday banking hours at selected branches across South Africa.

Five branches in KwaZulu-Natal are listed as Sunday trading branches. They include the branches at Taj Centre in Raisethorpe and at Liberty Midlands Mall.

Nedbank said the move is aimed at allowing clients greater flexibility to conduct their banking “in keeping with their lifestyles and needs”.

The move follows retail bank Capitec’s introduction of permanent Sunday trading at 84 of its 460 branches nationwide in May.

“Banks have to be innovative and transform to meet the needs of customers at every stage of their lives,” said Dave Schwegmann, managing executive of Nedbank branch network.

The Nedbank Sunday trading comes after the success of the Nedbank branch network’s extended trading hours pilot at 59 branches across the country since November 2010.

“The Sunday trading is in response to the overwhelming feedback from our clients to the Nedbank extended banking hours pilot,” he said.
