Barnes to face Saru committee

2014-10-16 00:00

KIMBERLEY — Griquas hooker Ryno Barnes will appear before a South African Rugby Union disciplinary committee today after receiving a red card for verbally abusing referee Pro Legoete in the Currie Cup match against the Blue Bulls in Pretoria last Saturday.

Barnes allegedly acted in contravention of laws 10.4(m) and (s).

Law 10.4(m) says that a player must not do anything against the spirit of good sportsmanship in the playing enclosure, while law 10.4 (s) says all players must respect the authority of the referee and must not dispute the referee’s decisions.
