Beach protest: 2 000 anglers mourn murdered Hunter

2008-07-13 00:00

About 2 000 anglers held a protest on Saturday morning at the Richards Bay beach to highlight crime on the beach, following the murder of top angler Clive Hunter last week.

One of the anglers described Hunter as a role model for young and old in the Zululand league.

"His rise through the ranks to the highest level of angling cemented his position in the powerful ZuIuland shore angling team, and his achievements in South Africa’s premier tournament had set tongues wagging about his potential to wear the elusive green and gold of our fantastic country."

Hunter leaves his wife Zelda, son Brandon and daughter Megan.
