Boesak to talk on brave men at UKZN

DR Allan Boesak will deliver the sixth Annual Mzwandile Memorial Lecture tomorrow at the Colin Webb Hall on the Pietermaritzburg campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

He will speak on “Just, Brave Men: Luthuli, Mandela and the Jericho Road”.

The lecture is hosted by the Ujamaa Centre for Community Development and Research in the School of Religion, Philosophy and Classics at UKZN and is in honour of Rodrigues Mzwandile Nunes — a Marxist thinker who died in 2009. Nunes worked for the Ujamaa Centre as its programmes director and national co-ordinator of the Theology of Work Project in South Africa.

Boesak is professor and founding director of the Desmond Tutu Centre for Peace, Reconciliation and Global Justice at Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Religion, Philosophy and Classics at UKZN.

He is recipient of numerous awards including the Robert Kennedy Human Rights Award, the Martin Luther King Jr Peace Award, and the King Hintsa Bravery Award from the Royal Xhosa House.
