Boks call-up: Plumtree makes changes to Sharks squad

2011-08-16 00:00

SPRINGBOK demands will force coach Sharks John Plumtree to make a couple of changes to his side for Friday night’s Currie Cup game against the Leopards at King’s Park.

Bok coach Peter de Villiers has called up Sharks flyhalf/centre/fullback Pat Lambie and wing Lwazi Mvovo ahead of Saturday’s Test against the All Blacks, but Plumtree has readymade replacements.

One of his two young wings, Sibusiso Sihole or Mark Richards, will obviously return for Mvovo on the wing while either Meyer Bosman or Adi Jacobs could replace Lambie, who played at inside centre in the Sharks’ important 21-19 win over Western Province in the Cape Town rain at the weekend.

Prop Dale Chadwick left the field with an ankle injury in Cape Town, but is expected to be fit.

Match-winner Frederic Michalak was troubled by his hamstring starin and Plumtree said he would rest Michalak ahead of the game.

Bok lock Alistair Hargreaves (abdominal strain) could also make a return this week.

The match kicks off at 7 pm on Friday.
