Boost for Scottsville

2009-05-04 00:00

LOCAL property developer Dev Chetty is the man behind a new R30 million hotel in Scottsville, known as the Regal Inn Express.

Boasting quality facilities and services, the 91-room hotel in Alan Paton Avenue will offer guests all the major frills associated with quality establishments.

Chetty told The Witness that 35 staff members will be employed at the venue.

One of the key selling points of the development is its proximity to major road networks, the CBD, the university and shopping centres.

Chetty said they plan to develop the venue further in the future, in order to incorporate a major conference facility.

Key stakeholders involved in the project include Keith Gopaul, an architectural designer, and Ahmed Vawda, an engineer, as well as a number of local businesses, including shop-fitters, electricians and plumbers.

The idea was conceived about three years ago and work on the project began in May last year.

Gopaul said the three-level building has a garden area with a “relaxed atmosphere”.

“It’s a contemporary style in keeping with the surrounding area,” he said.

Chetty expects the hotel to secure a three-star rating soon.

The hotel will be officially launched next Friday.
